The Story Behind Sassy Girl Quilt Shop
I’ve always believed life is meant to be both meaningful and creative. For 36 years, I worked in nursing—fourteen of those as a nurse practitioner in Oncology—walking alongside people through some of life’s hardest seasons. But outside of work, my heart was always drawn to fabric, color, and design.
I grew up spending every summer at our old Northwoods cottage—swimming, fishing, and fixing up its well-worn corners. Even as life took me elsewhere, that little cottage remained my happy place. In January 2020, just before the world changed, I followed my dream and made the move north full-time. It was the best decision I could have made.
Quilting has always been more than a hobby to me—it’s therapy, storytelling, and joy all stitched together. Opening a quilt shop felt like the most natural next step. A dear friend once called me “sassy,” and it stuck (my mother would’ve agreed), so the name felt right too.
At Sassy Girl Quilt Shop, you’ll find a bit of everything: fabrics, notions, kits, Baby Lock sewing machines, and plenty of inspiration. My goal is to make this a welcoming space for everyone—from beginners to lifelong quilters. We’ll host open sew days, beginner quilting classes, and fun gatherings like “Block of the Month” clubs and shop hops.
Whether you’re looking for your next project or just a friendly place to chat and share ideas, I can’t wait to welcome you in. After all, quilting is even better when shared with friends.
